In celebration of the 11th birthday of Oliver (the cat), The County Seat is offering an 11% store-wide discount from Feb. 4 to 20. In addition, during that time you are invited to enter pictures of your pet in a “Cute Pet Contest.” Winner will be announced at an open house Feb. 19 where refreshments of people food, not kitty food, will be served.

Rex Siebert of Marion received a surprise at the national Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado, when a group of cattlemen presented him with a “herdsman emeritus” belt buckle honoring his many years in the cattle industry.

Marion High School debate team completed a successful season this January, participating in seven tournaments. Debaters were Levi Anderson, Niklas Bronnert, Cody DiLoreta, Chris Guestersloh, Sarah Guetersloh, Taylor Harms, Brandon Meierhoff, Beth Nesser, E.J. Obermeyer, Adam Palic, and Andy Shipman.

Hutton Construction Corporation of Wichita, a general contractor, recently was honored for three projects in the Associated General Contractors State Building Awards Program. The projects included the new USD 408 Sports and Aquatics Center.
