Valentine’s Day is Saturday. The local florists are preparing for one of the biggest retail days of the year.

Foghat will perform June 5 and Bellamy Brother will be featured June 6 at Chingawassa Days in Marion’s Central Park.

Addison Norris, 22-month-old daughter of Mike and Jamie Norris of Marion, was the winner of the cute baby contest sponsored by Duckwall’s of Marion. Proceeds from the contest benefited Marion Community Christmas.

Marion High School chose six seniors this past week as 2009 winter homecoming Queen of the Courts candidates. King candidates are Gabe Moore, Levi Carpenter, and Mats Mangelrod Johnnessen. Queen candidates are Jennilee Preece, D.J. Gore, and Kay Nickelson.

MHS scholar’s bowl team will compete Saturday for the state championship after winning its regional competition this past week. Team members are Derek Stuchlik, E.J. Obermeyer, Sam Ehrlich, Matt Thierolf, and Patrick Hodson.
