Marion’s 15th annual Art in the Park will get underway at 9 a.m. Saturday. More than 70 exhibitors are expected to be on hand in Central Park.

Marion High School senior Danielle Longhofer has been selected as Student of the Month by the Marion High School faculty. She is the daughter of Janet Longhofer of Marion and David Longhofer of Kansas City. Danielle plans to attend the University of Missouri-Kansas City and major in psychology and English.

Electronic digital switching on Friday will replace the old mechanical dial equipment in the telephone office at Marion.

The “Last Member Club” of the MHS Class of 1927 met Sept. 11 at the Stone City Café. Noting they graduated 66 years ago, the group was pleased that 14 were able to be present.

Homecoming candidates at Marion High School are Danielle Longhofer, Pam Kruse, Charity King, Christian Vogel, Corey Darrow, and Matt Holub. Ceremonies will take place Friday at halftime of the Sacred Heart game.

Dean Duke of Marion is retiring after 40 years in public health service with Marion County and with the state agriculture department.

Marion High School cheerleaders for the fall semester are Angela Markley, Bonnie Hokanson, Courtney Goering, Renee Goodin, Tosha Hendricks, Jenny Groening, and the most recent version of the Warrior mascot, Nick Voelker.
