Marion County Commission reviewed a preliminary application Monday for a grant, which could pay up to $75,000 for a new roof on the historic courthouse. However, since the roof will be replaced with composition shingles, the grant will probably be less than $75,000. Funds come from a preservation grant administered by the State Historical Society.
Liverpool, the band that imitates the Beatles, is returning for Summerfest ’94. They will perform July 9 on Central Park Stage.
Five generations pictured in this issue include the youngest member of the family, Tyler Jaso, and his mother Brenda Jaso, Newton; grandmother Marilyn Klassen, Lehigh; great-grandmother Ruby Linnens and great-grandmother Tressie Ford, both of Marion.
Elizabeth Anderson of Peabody Junior High School will represent Marion County in the state spelling bee. Elizabeth won the county bee held Feb. 9 at Marion Elementary School.
