Ernest Edens

Services for Peabody Health and Rehab resident Ernest Lee Edens, 81, who died Thursday at Newton Medical Center, were Monday at Baker Funeral Home. Burial was in Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Born June 5, 1937, in Blackburn, Oklahoma, to James Barow Edens and Alice May (Lee) Edens, he was a Korean War veteran.

Survivors include wife Janice Edens of Peabody, sons Ernest Lee Edens Jr. of Salina and Danny Lee Keyes of Topeka, daughter Carey Marie Edens of Topeka, sister Helen Marie Clark of Wichita, and five grandchildren, including Sean McCloud Clay of Statesville, North Carolina, whom he and his wife raised.

Six siblings preceded him in death.
