New clinic promises convenient care in Peabody

Staff writer

Murphy Wellness, a new primary care clinic, is set to begin seeing patients in Peabody starting Monday

With no physicians in town, a routine doctor’s visit can require a drive out of town or weeks of waiting.

Nurse practitioner Jeni Murphy hopes to change that. She will be the clinic’s primary provider at launch

The clinic will be built around meeting needs she has seen repeatedly in rural communities — patients who want consistent, local care but face barriers tied to cost, insurance coverage, or distance.

“Opening day is really about welcoming patients and starting those care relationships,” Murphy said. “I want to set the tone for a clinic built on access, compassion and quality.”

Murphy Wellness will accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.

The clinic will offer a membership-based care option for patients with or without insurance. This model can help reduce financial uncertainty and encourage people to seek care earlier rather than waiting until problems become urgent, Murphy said.

The membership fee will be $65 per month for adults and $25 per month for children. It will cover routine primary care.

Medicare patients will pay a lower monthly fee, generally between $15 and $50. Medicaid patients will pay no monthly fee, with services fully covered.

Flexibility is especially important in Marion County because residents’ circumstances vary widely and gaps in care can have lasting consequences, Murphy said.

To manage administrative and operational needs, Murphy partnered with Premonition Health of Wichita. The partnership allows her to focus on direct patient care while maintaining independence in clinical decision-making.

Opening day marks the start of regular patient appointments, but a broader goal is long-term.

“This is about being present in the community and being available when people need care,” she said. “That’s something that really matters in a place like this.”
