Robert Franz
A celebration of life service for Dr. Robert George Franz, 92, Hillsboro, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, at Hillsboro Community Hospital, is planned for later.
He was born Oct. 19, 1933, in Henderson, Nebraska, to George and Mary (Wiens) Franz.
He graduated from Enid High School, in Enid, Oklahoma; attended Tabor College in Hillsboro; and graduated from Phillips University in Enid and the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in Oklahoma City.
He was an intern and surgical resident at Gorges Hospital in the Panama Canal Zone and a family physician in his own practice from 1964 to 1984 in Hillsboro.
He joined a group practice from 1985 to 2000 at Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
He married Darlene Faye Becker on June 12, 1959, in Grand Island, Nebraska.
She survives along with two daughters, Cheryl (and husband Terry) Hagen of Hillsboro and Kimberly (and husband Doug) Walker of Manhattan; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Mary Franz, and two brothers, Roger Abie and George Leroy.
