Vehicle wash re-opens with updates

Automatic unit ordered, should arrive in early spring

A brand new water unit, a fresh coat of paint, and a rebuilt truck bay signal signs of life at the former US-56 Car and Truck Wash north of Marion.

The Rhino Car and Truck Wash is open with a single wash-it-yourself unit for standard-sized vehicles and a large bay for trucks and bigger units.

It was derelict for quite a while. The truck bay had not been functional for five or six years.

“I bought the place about six months ago,” retired Marion chiropractor Bruce Skiles said Monday at the car wash.

Business has been good, he said, especially with the weather last weekend.

“Customers have told me they are happy with the pressure and soap,” he said.

They are also happy the units now accept credit and debit cards.

“It’s more convenient for them. People don’t always carry cash,” he said.

For those who don’t like to do the job themselves, a new automatic brush system is on order and should be installed in early spring.
