Mr. and Mrs. Paul Minear treated members of the Marion High School basketball team to a steak dinner Saturday in honor of the team winning its district tournament last week. Team members attending were Jim Christensen, Warren Gardner, James Gilbert, Neil Hoopes, John Minear, David Montgomery, Wade Robertson, Larry Schlehuber, Tommy Shirley, and Roland Vogel. Also present were coaches Floyd Yaussi, Ed Frickey, and C.R. Wall.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Varenhorst were in Wichita to buy spring merchandise Friday at a wholesale house.

When a birthday occurs only once every four years, it is a special occasion. Loretta Dee Smith, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Merle Smith, had a birthday celebration Feb. 29 at the city building. About 50 pupils of the two second grades and the teachers, Mrs. A.W. Haizlip and Mrs. James Criswell, were invited as guests.

Members of the Junior Riding Club will meet Saturday afternoon at the ballpark east of town for a scheduled ride.

Robert S. Edmunds has joined the staff of the Farm Bureau insurance agency and is now working on a full-time basis. He is married to the former Pauline Best, who teaches sixth grade in the Marion school system. They have a 2-year-old son, Mike.
